What Are Rituals?
Rituals are special recurring tasks that represent meaningful, repeated practices in your dynamic. Unlike regular recurring tasks, rituals:
- Track streaks (consecutive completions)
- Display with special visual badges
- Have their own section on The Helm
- Build habits through consistency
✓ Rituals vs. Regular Tasks
While any task can recur, marking a task as a "ritual" signals its importance in your dynamic and enables special tracking features like streaks and badges.
Creating a Ritual
Rituals are created as tasks with the ritual flag enabled:
-
Create a New Task
Go to Tasks and click "Create Task".
-
Set Recurrence
Under recurrence settings, choose how often the ritual occurs (daily, weekly, etc.).
-
Enable Ritual Mode
Toggle "Mark as Ritual" to enable ritual tracking features.
-
Add Details
Fill in the title, description, and any other task details.
-
Save
Create the task. It will appear in the Rituals section of The Helm.
Ritual Badges
Rituals display special visual badges to help identify them:
Flame Badge
A flame icon appears next to rituals with active streaks. The flame indicates:
- You have a current streak going
- The number next to the flame shows your streak count
- Completing today's ritual keeps the flame burning
Streak Counter
The streak number shows how many consecutive periods you've completed the ritual. For a daily ritual, this is consecutive days. For weekly rituals, consecutive weeks.
Streak Tracking
How Streaks Work
- Complete a ritual within its period to maintain your streak
- Missing a period (e.g., not completing a daily ritual for a full day) breaks the streak
- Streaks reset to 0 when broken
- A new streak begins when you complete the ritual again
Grace Periods
Depending on your hierarchy's settings, there may be a grace period before a streak officially breaks. This accounts for timezone differences and late completions.
Streak at Risk
When a ritual is approaching its deadline without completion:
- The Helm shows a warning indicator
- You may receive a "Streak at Risk" notification
- The flame badge may pulse or change color
Viewing Rituals
On The Helm
The submissive dashboard has a dedicated Rituals section showing:
- Today's rituals and their completion status
- Current streak for each ritual
- Quick-complete buttons
- Time remaining until deadline
On the Tasks Page
Rituals appear in the regular task list but are marked with the ritual badge. You can filter to show only rituals.
Streaks Page
A dedicated Streaks page shows:
- All your rituals and their current streaks
- Longest streak achieved for each ritual
- Streak history and patterns
- Calendar visualization of completions

- Submit for review (if approval is required)
With Photo/Video
Some rituals may require photo or video evidence:

Managing Rituals
Pausing a Ritual
If you need to temporarily stop a ritual (travel, illness, etc.):
- Go to the ritual task
- Click "Pause Ritual"
- Set a resume date (optional)
- The streak is preserved while paused
✓ Streak Preservation
When a ritual is paused, the streak is frozen rather than broken. This allows for legitimate breaks without losing progress.
Ending a Ritual
To permanently stop a ritual:
- Go to the ritual task
- Edit the task
- Remove the recurrence or delete the task
- Streak history is preserved in your records
Ritual Statistics
Track your ritual performance over time:
- Current streak: How many consecutive periods you've completed
- Longest streak: Your best streak ever for this ritual
- Completion rate: Percentage of periods completed
- Total completions: Total number of times completed
Tips for Success
Start Small
Begin with one or two rituals and add more as they become habits. Too many rituals at once can be overwhelming.
Be Consistent
Try to complete rituals at the same time each day/week. Consistency builds habits.
Set Reminders
Enable notifications for ritual reminders so you don't forget.
Celebrate Milestones
Recognize streak milestones (7 days, 30 days, 100 days) as achievements in your dynamic.
Be Forgiving
If a streak breaks, don't be discouraged. Start fresh and focus on the next streak.
