Accessing Account Settings
To access your account settings:
- Click your profile picture or username in the top-right corner
- Select "Account Settings" from the dropdown menu
Profile
Your profile information is visible across all hierarchies you belong to.
Display Name
Your default display name shown throughout the app. Individual hierarchies may show a different display name if you've set one specifically for that hierarchy.
Username
Your unique identifier. Usernames:
- Must be 5-50 characters
- Can contain letters, numbers, underscores, and hyphens
- Are unique across all users
- Can be changed (subject to availability)
Avatar
Upload a profile picture or avatar:
- Supported formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP
- Maximum size: 5MB
- Images are automatically cropped to a square
Pronouns
Optionally set your pronouns to be displayed alongside your name in some contexts.
Bio
A brief description about yourself, visible in your profile.
Appearance
Customize how TaskManager looks for you.
Theme
- Light Mode - White background with dark text
- Dark Mode - Dark background with light text
- System - Follows your device's preference
Your theme preference is saved and persists across sessions and devices.
Media Library
Settings related to your personal media storage.
Storage Usage
View how much of your storage quota you're using. Storage limits vary by subscription tier:
- Free: 500MB
- Paid: 10GB
- Premium: 100GB
Manage Storage
Access detailed storage management to:
- See breakdown by media type
- Identify large files
- Delete unused media
- Purchase additional storage (if available)
Security
Protect your account with security settings.
Change Password
Update your password. Requirements:
- Minimum 8 characters
- Mix of letters, numbers, and symbols recommended
- Cannot be the same as your previous password
Biometric Authentication
Enable Touch ID, Face ID, or fingerprint login on supported devices:
- Click "Set Up Biometric"
- Authenticate with your device's biometric sensor
- Confirm enrollment
Once enabled, you can use biometrics instead of your password to log in.
Active Sessions
View and manage devices currently logged into your account:
- See device type, browser, and location
- View last activity time
- Sign out from specific sessions
- "Sign out all devices" for security concerns
⚠ Security Tip
If you see an unrecognized session, sign out from that device immediately and change your password.
Safewords
Configure your personal safeword system for use across all hierarchies.
How Safewords Work
Safewords are safety mechanisms that allow you to immediately communicate boundaries:
- Yellow (Slow Down) - "I need to pause or reduce intensity"
- Red (Full Stop) - "Stop everything immediately"
Notification Settings
When a safeword is triggered:
- Push notifications are always sent to relevant parties (for safety)
- Email notifications can be enabled or disabled here
Managing Safewords
Click "Manage Safewords" to:
- View your safeword history
- Add custom safewords beyond Yellow/Red
- Configure per-hierarchy safeword settings
DM Privacy
Control who can send you direct messages.
DM Access Settings
- Connected Only (Default) - Only people you share a hierarchy with can DM you
- Community Members - Anyone in communities you belong to
- Everyone - Any verified user
- Nobody - Disable DMs entirely
Blocked Users
Manage your block list:
- View all users you've blocked
- Unblock users if desired
- Blocked users cannot message you, see your profile, or interact with your content
Organization Subscription
Quick access to your organization's subscription status and billing.
- Current tier (Free, Paid, Premium)
- Next billing date
- Link to full billing management

Data Export
Download a copy of all your personal data (GDPR Article 20 compliance).
What's Included
- Profile information
- Tasks you created or were assigned
- Journal entries
- Messages sent
- Media you uploaded
- Activity history
How to Export
- Click "Request Data Export"
- Confirm your request
- You'll receive an email when your export is ready (usually within 24 hours)
- Download the ZIP file containing your data in JSON format
✓ Export Security
Data exports are encrypted and the download link expires after 7 days. You can request a new export at any time.
Delete Account
Permanently delete your TaskManager account.
⚠ Warning: Permanent Action
Deleting your account will:
- Remove your profile and all personal data
- Remove you from all hierarchies
- Delete all media you've uploaded
- Delete all journal entries and personal content
- Cancel any active subscriptions
This action cannot be undone.
Before Deleting
Consider:
- Exporting your data first (see Data Export above)
- Transferring ownership of any hierarchies you own
- Downloading any media you want to keep
How to Delete
- Scroll to the Danger Zone section
- Click "Delete Account"
- Type your username to confirm
- Enter your password
- Click "Permanently Delete Account"
