Best Practices
For Giving Praise
Be Specific
Instead of "Good job", say "I'm impressed by how quickly you completed the laundry and how neatly everything was folded."
Be Timely
Give praise soon after the behavior you want to reinforce. Immediate recognition is most effective.
Be Consistent
Regular praise builds trust and motivation. Don't save it only for perfect performance.
Be Genuine
Authentic praise resonates more than generic recognition. Mean what you say.
For Receiving Praise
Accept Gracefully
Accept praise without deflecting. A simple "Thank you, Sir/Ma'am" is appropriate.
Let It Motivate
Use praise as fuel for continued effort. Review your Praise Wall when you need encouragement.
Note Patterns
Notice what behaviors earn praise and continue those patterns.
Comment Etiquette
Keep It Relevant
Keep comments focused on the task at hand. Use direct messages for off-topic conversation.
Be Respectful
Maintain the tone appropriate to your dynamic, even when giving corrective feedback.
Use for Documentation
Comments create a record. Use them to document important information that should be remembered.
